Software for Students

Many software companies offer student versions of their software for either no cost or a greatly-reduced cost. Shown here are some software packages used in SENS computer labs that have student versions available.

Note that the student versions may not have all the same features as the versions in the classrooms and computing labs.

Ansys

Free downloads of several student versions of Ansys products, including Discovery Live Student, Discovery AIM Student, Ansys Student, and Ansys SCADE Student are available from https://www.ansys.com/academic/free-student-products.

Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching now offers UB faculty and students access to Microsoft software design, developer and cloud computing tools. Note: The software available through this program may not be used for university research or commercial purposes.

NI Multisim

NI Multisim is available to run on their website from https://www.multisim.com/. Please see the professor of your relevant course for information on how to access it as part of the course.

PTC Creo

A student version of Creo can be downloaded from https://www.ptc.com/en/academic-program/academic-products/free-software.
