Introduction: About SENS Standard Software Installations
SENS attempts to provide users with the most commonly used software within the University environment by default on their machines. These programs are recommended but not required to be installed on your University machine. The programs that we normally install are usually grouped into the following categories:
- Office applications;
- Viewers and editors;
- Multimedia applications;
- Remote access applications;
- Antivirus and anti-malware applications
There is also a wide variety of optional and licensed software available in addition to what is listed below. If you do not see an application listed and would like to know if it is available, feel free to contact us about it.

Windows Software
The software that we install by default on your Windows based computer includes:

| Citrix XenApp client | Virtualization software - necessary to run certain university applications |
| Quicktime/iTunes | Multimedia player |
| Realplayer | Multimedia player |
| 7-zip | File compression and decompression Utility |
| Putty | Program for telnet and ssh connections to university servers and timeshares |
| X-win32 | Application that allows you to display GUI interfaces of applications that are run remotely on the university servers |
| WinSCP | File transfer application (FTP/SFTP) |
| Symantec Endpoint Protection | Virus protection and removal application |
| Spybot Search and Destroy | Spyware removal application |
| UB VPN | Allows you to securely access university rescources through your ISP from off-campus (installed on laptops only) |
